We purchased this for my 90 year young uncle, who still gardens and tends his flower beds. It’s great for those of us who can still get down, but have difficulty ‘getting up’. The Kneeler is sturdy, safe, and light-weight, and is perfect for us ‘mature’ gardeners. The smooth metal ‘handles’ are at the right ergonomic height for the arms to help lift the body back to a standing position without falling over on your nose. The seat is just right for resting from a morning’s planting or weed-pulling. Highly recommended.

I get sick and tired of buying garden tools that are hard to work with, poorly designed and then fall apart. I needed a new hoe and saw this on Amazon for under $17 including shipping. For that price I can barely purchase a cheap one so thought I would give it a try. Glad I did!

First, the handle is entirely one piece so no worries about collapsing or coming apart like so many of the newer two piece tools.

Second, the handle is nice and long - again, so many of the newer versions are skimping and making them just a few inches shorter so that it hurts your back to do any real work with them.

Third, the handle is all aluminum so not only strong but INCREDIBLY light weight - again, making it less tiring to work with.

Fourth - the handle is ergonomically shaped in the triangular shape to fit your natural grasp so no more sliding or blisters!

Fifth - the blade is already sharpened direct from the factory. One of the main reasons so many garden tools are terribly difficult and back-breaking to work with is poor design and failure to have a sharp edge. This comes ready to use or you can put a bit more edge if you prefer but either way - it is designe dto be sharped just like hoe’s of old. If you have never used a sharpened hoe and think all garden labor is excrutiating then you will be pleasantly surprised! Combined with the ergonomic fit, light weight and solid construction - not to mentin price -this is a fantastic value for the money!

My only regret - I only bought one.

So many of my garden tools are in two pieces now. This hoe has a lifetime warranty. It’s so lightweight and very sharp. I am very pleased with it and shipping was quick too!

Real Men Use Reel Mowers

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008 | Author: Home and Garden

Real men (and women) use reel lawn mowers. There are many benefits to using a reel lawn mower namely, they are better for the environment than a rotary mower.

Here are some other benefits of reel mowers:

You just push it and it mows you do not have to worry about starting up the lawn mower or having it break down on you.

They are quiet.

You can mow at any time of the day or night without worrying about waking up your neighbors. You can hear the birds chirping and your cell phone ringing and other sounds that you can not hear when pushing a rotary mower.

You can actually enjoy a beautiful day, noise-free, when you are out pushing a reel mower mowing your lawn becomes less of a task and more of an enjoyment.

They are less expensive than rotary mowers they cost less to purchase and less to maintain, and you do not have to pay for gas to fuel them.

Low maintenance you just need to periodically oil your lawn mower and sharpen the blade.

You can get a bit of exercise when you are out mowing the lawn! Of course, do not worry. Reel mowers of today are much easier to push and use than those that your grandfather owned. They are lighter and easier to maintain than those of the past, as well.

A reel mower is light enough and small enough to lift up and stow away on a wall in your garage.

Because the blades of a reel mower spin at an angle perpendicular to the ground (the blades of a rotary mower spin parallel to the ground), they actually cut the grass rather than simply smashing the ends of the grass.

They are generally safer than rotary lawn mowers.

They do not pollute!

Drawbacks of reel mowers:

They do not cut tall weeds very well. In other words, they are not going to be very useful for cutting the grass of a vacant lot, but they will still work great on your lawn. A reel mower will just roll right over dandelions and other weeds

For them to work best, you need to use them weekly. Tall grass can really bog them down, and cutting it will give you more of a workout than you are looking for!

Because you are, in a sense, the motor that keeps this type of lawn mower going, you may get too tired if you have a large lawn to tackle reel mowers are best for smaller lawns.

They do not break up sticks like a rotary motor. In fact, you may have to stop and get sticks out of the blade.

In the end, the choice is, of course, up to you. But realize that a reel mower is most definitely a lawn mower option that should not be so easily overlooked!
